Our first Christmas abroad looked set to be… a very cold one.
Forget that it’s December and technically summer in Australia, Christmas day saw alternating rain clouds and sunshine, a shower of hail and a maximum temperature of 16 degrees! Well, that’s what the weather forecast said. Someone must have been praying really, really hard [...]
Between adventurous excitement and lazy apprehension
Between what it could be and what it is
Between desperate faith and confident hope
So many things to look forward to and yet each passing day is another trickle-drop of time
Oh to live in the moment and ignore that drip drip dripping of the water
I can’t believe we were that close /
I can’t believe we queued slash waited for seven hours /
You need to do something crazy once in your life /
Maybe twice /
Or thrice /
I didn’t even need to look at the screens /
Yep we were [...]
Last night at around 10.45pm…
“What are you doing?” I called out from the bathroom.
I brushed my teeth.
I washed my face.
I got into PJs.
I got into bed.

I opened my book and began reading.
Long silence.
“I’m looking at cars,” Y said.

I splashed out on AUD$150 tickets to watch The Boy from Oz musical last night with my sister, and boy (pardon the pun) I was so, so, so glad I did. I’d even watch it all over again if I made a living printing money (isn’t this ironic considering my previous post) and this time, [...]
In the midst of all the talk and thought on jobs and houses and money, I was suddenly struck with a terrible cloud of gloom while brushing my teeth two nights ago – an unexpected feeling of having absolutely no real purpose in looking for work. Besides earning money. And that’s not so much a [...]
My room is a mess. I’m glad I finally got round to packing, and I am not happy about having to leave a bunch of clothes and four bags behind. Guess my worldly possessions were a little bit more than I imagined. Either that or the suitcase is a helluva lot smaller than it actually [...]
It was only fitting, on the precipice of a(nother) new chapter in my life, that we would turn this page with one last shot at that forbidden, unattainable dream: the life of a bum. It’s been 3 hours since we landed, and already, Redang feels so far away, which it is, like it’s in another [...]
