have our own place
have the master bedroom
have an ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe
have friends whose hospitality and generosity know no end
to the Chews and the Chans:
‘thank you’ does not even begin to come close

Would you believe that

… when I was 18 years old, a personality test told me I was phlegmatic-sanguine. In other words, I was first and foremost peace-loving at all costs, and secondly sunny and optimistic.
Ha ha.
I’d love to see how I rank on that test today, though I don’t really need a whole heap of questions to tell me what I am these days - melancholic. Yep, the Disney-cartoon-loving girl is all grown-up, and even though she still loves Disney and can sing almost the entire Lion King soundtrack word for word, there is the growing realisation that maybe she was born to be a little less cheery after all.
Now there’s a thought huh.
In recent times, I’ve discovered a new love for the bittersweet and the utterly depressing. Happily-ever-after stories are met with cynicism, fluffy all’s-well-that-ends-well movies regarded with a curious mix of boredom and monotony. Give me the stories where the bad guy gets away, or the lovers are parted forever. Call me sadistic, cruel… melancholic.
My favourite songs in the entire Boy From Oz soundtrack can be listed as such, in no particular order: the funeral song, the divorce song, the dying from AIDs song, the repressed abused childhood song, the grandpa who is now dead and had a jackass of a son song. And damned if I don’t simply love every last one of them.
Ha ha.
