A new kind of shopping – the aftermath
Curiosity (and the word ‘shopping’) got the better of Y this morning, and he quickly skimmed the first couple paragraphs of my post. Too lazy to read the entire thing, he clicked on the link instead.
Y: Shoes?!
Me: Uh huh. I just threw away three pairs of shoes.
[Pause. He channel surfs.]
Y: So are you going to buy shoes?
Me: Er… I already did.
Y: You already did?!
[Ensues conversation about return policy, sizes, the price and how I know the shoes will fit me. I sound a lot more confident than I really am, given that it's my first time.]
[He decides this is too important for him not to skim the last couple paragraphs of my post as well.]
Y: Orders?! How many pairs did you buy?
Me: Two.
Y: Two?!
Me: I don’t have time to go shopping. We’re closing three magazines in two weeks. It’s going to be crazy.
That’s not entirely true. I could make time if I really wanted to, I just choose to do other things with my free nighttime hours. Y goes back to channel surfing. I go back to waiting for the shoes to arrive.
