In an effort to better my writing and reignite my love for books, I have decided to start reading more.

I’ve just read Wuthering Heights, and was amazed by how privileged people back in the 19th century seemingly passed days, weeks, months and years doing nothing but eating, getting dressed and undressed, taking walks/riding ponies and reading. All day long. Every single day of their lives.

I honestly cannot imagine that kind of existence today, although I will say it’s testament to how marvellous and life-sustaining books can be. Which is why I’m going back to good ol’ conventional flipping pages. I credit an enormously large chunk of who I am today to reading, and remember devouring Famous Five books as a seven-year-old – two a week at first, and then, two every four days.

Having finished Wuthering Heights – a beautiful, tragic, dramatic tale that blows my mind – I am now taking a giant leap to the other end of the spectrum and starting on Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell’s study of success. I bought it from The Book Depository for a very satisfying $8.94 and the best part is they do free shipping worldwide!

Everyone who loves books should check out The Book Depository. The only downside to it is the books sometimes take a while to arrive – two of my books arrived in just over a month while Outliers arrived within a couple of weeks – but I was in no hurry, and I never complain about people who not only are willing to ship to Malaysia, they actually do it for free. Love.

Inspiring. I wish to do the same. And I certainly hope it comes true, despite my having two babies. (Yes, one is a toddler I know, but she still acts like a baby at times.)

Soph, I’m currently reading one of Malcolm Gladwell’s books too. It’s called Blink and I can’t put it down!
