Nature or Nurture?
Does anyone know whether character traits are the result of nature or nurture? Like, is a child generous because her father is generous and the trait has been passed down, or is she generous because she has learnt to be from observation of her father? Are character traits like hair loss genes, color blindness, body shapes – inherent, or are they a result of the environment a child grows up in?
If you say it’s the environment, then why are two siblings completely different in character, and their characters are similar to that of their father and mother respectively? What if the parents don’t live together so there couldn’t have been any opportunity for learning through observation?
The thought came to me this morning over muesli and yoghurt – my new breakfast addiction.
Anyone?
