This is probably one of the most deluded articles I’ve read in a while.
Besides the fact that it disrespects what I thought was an admirable and fantastic effort on the part of the artistes involved in ‘Here In My Home’, it’s also so incredibly misinformed and ridiculous that I actually wondered if the author had been paid to write this in the cause of ‘political propaganda’.
We are a racist country, and you would have to be blind not to see that. It’s never pronounced out loud in exactly that term, but we are. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that not only are we, as a people, racist (whether consciously or unconsciously), it is also the result of systematic indoctrination and the accompanying misuse/manipulation of our multi-racial nature – by the authorities.
In the same way that I believe a child can be brought up to be not racist, this country has been brought up to be, all for the cause of selfish and political gain. It’s been 50 years since we got our chance to start anew and with a clean slate, and what we’ve done is screw up royally. All you have to do is actually read the newspapers and listen to what people have to say about their fears and concerns to realise this.
Thanks to Pete Teo for bringing this article to (more) attention; read what he had to say about it here.
