Talking to Dia Frampton
I was so excited to be interviewing Dia Frampton that I almost forgot to turn on my voice recorder. Which would have been quite disastrous and totally unprofessional.
I interview a lot of people in my line of work, and I usually get butterflies right before I speak to a star because I’m so excited. Sometimes it’s also because I have to do it in Mandarin but that’s a whole other story. I imagine that’s how some performers feel before they go on stage.
But when it’s a star I’m a huge fan of, whom I’m really, really excited to be speaking to, I get so excited/nervous I can feel it in my chest and I can’t sit still. (I also pretty much walk around on a high for the rest of the day. Or week.) So I spent much of that Saturday morning trying to pretend I wasn’t itching to jump around and scream really loudly.
Technology is an amazing thing. I couldn’t believe I was sitting in a room in KL talking face to face with Dia, who was in Columbus, OH. It was insane! And I tried not to gush too much.
She looks and sounds exactly like she did on The Voice, which, given how so many people put on a front for cameras, is a really cool thing. She’s currently touring with Blake Shelton, whom I also absolutely love, and I didn’t get to talk to him much, but her tour manager Robert seemed like a really amazing guy as well.
I’ll put up my interview with Dia later on, but for now, here’s the music video for her new single ‘The Broken Ones’. There’s just something about her voice that grabs you, holds on, and won’t let go.
By the way, Dia’s sister Meg – who plays guitar in Dia’s band – also makes these really cute and awesome necklaces, so check them out if you’re interested. I got one called Rockin’ Out Joey last year (not sure if she’s still making those) and I love it.

- Writer and mummy. Excited about entertainment, sports and telling other people's stories. Occasionally nerdy. I wish there were 30 hours in a day.
