The hunt goes on.

I don’t think I did well in my interview today. No particular reason, I just think there were a half dozen things I could have and should have said but didn’t, that’s all. Okay, so that’s like half a dozen reasons. But I remain optimistic. And until my phone rings, nothing is certain.

The job description of an editorial assistant is simple: I assist the editor, and everyone else in Marie Claire. I think they’re a bit short on brains and hands at the moment. The good news is I will be learning tomes about the magazine industry, which seems like a really, really good idea at the moment. The bad news is, the editor made it very clear that it was an entry-level position, which is making me wonder about the type of salary that will be offered. I’m envisioning really bad stuff here. Still, if I get the job, my duties will range from the good – attending launches when the editor can’t, assisting in fashion photo shoots if they need help, doing minor interviews, helping writers get contacts etc, to the not-so-good… hmm, I can’t think of any I would classify as not-so-good actually. Well, there was talk of invoices and lots of “nitty-gritty”, but to me, it sings of variety and learning opportunities. Now I’m really wishing I did better in the interview…

The job-hunt hype is so over for me. I’m tired of attending interviews, even though I’ve only been to 4 – which is really hardly a number to shout about. My self-imposed deadline to start work – January – is getting closer and I’m just about ready to take anything that comes my way. Well, provided it’s in an accessible location (ie not in the middle of KL), reasonable pay (depending on the line), 5 day week… Fine, I’m still being the same fusspot I was a month ago.

So sue me.
