Transparent salaries?
Figure out how much you should be paid
It’s a very interesting thought and she’s right, the people benefitting most from non-transparent salaries are the employers themselves, but I wonder if this would really work here.
Salaries are such a closely-guarded secret in the workplace, but why? Even though I suspect I sort of know the answer, I’d really like to hear your thoughts. Plus, your thoughts on transparent salaries.

i disagree with you on salary secrecy being a guarded secret, certainly not in the accounting industry. for the first 3-4 years of my working life, i know the exact salary of my peers and some of my seniors and heck, some of my managers. even till now, i still share my salary with some of my peers though we are not in the same company.
salary secrecy is a myth. but why employers are not feeling the pain?
it’s simply becos the mentality of employees have not changed… they know, but they dare to do nothing.
i used ‘they’ cos i have bang table to demand for a payrise before after doing a industry study.
Is the accounting industry an exception rather than the norm because salaries, at least in the big 4, are regulated?
not regulated, just that increment is sort of standard and somehow, ppl will ask and they will compare and ppl will just tell…
